Kitchen Car Crash Forces Restaurant Shutdown

Early on Dec. 3, 2018, a kitchen car crash nearly destroyed a Thai restaurant.

Las Vegas (Dec. 3, 2018) – Early Monday morning, a vehicle crashed into the kitchen wall of Krung Thai Restaurant, forcing the restaurant owner to indefinitely close down.

At approximately 4:30 am, a gray Hyundai Elantra crashed into the kitchen wall of the Thai restaurant. The driver, leaving their car behind, fled the scene before police arrived. The vehicle caused substantial damage to the restaurant, breaking kitchen equipment and causing a gas leak. Maintenance crews spent the morning boarding up the wall, as the kitchen was a total disaster with shattered plates and broken appliances everywhere.

Paul Swan, the owner of the restaurant, stated, “I’m shut down, total loss. My cooking equipment is damaged. I’m sad I won’t be able to serve my customers as usual. I’ve lost December’s income, and that’s the biggest month for any restaurant owner.” Swan went on to say that he could lose even more money because of spoiled food, which would cost him thousand of dollars. “If it’s bad and not the right temperature. I have to throw it all away.”

Nevertheless, Swan is grateful none of his employees were hurt. The restaurant opens at 11 am, so the incident occurred before his employees were on shift. “Five people would’ve been back there,” Swan stated, ruminating on what could have been a grimmer outcome. Still, Swan worries for his ten employees who may now have to search for other jobs.

And customers are just as shocked as Swan was. “I feel sorry for him,” stated a customer who has regularly eaten at the restaurant for 15 years. Swan may have to indefinitely close down Krung Thai Restaurant, but further details are not yet known. Police are still searching for the perpetrator of the kitchen car crash.
